Baglady was invited to Portadown for their first-ever River event – when hundreds gathered in boiling weather to enjoy a day of music, river rides and other treats for children; and raise funds for Dive and Rescue.
But while we had fun on the banks of the Bann, 30 divers from north and south of the border turned their attention below the water, bringing up skiploads of rubbish to be removed by Craigavon Council. Watch the video to see the rubbish and what we’re doing about it.
Did you spot Baglady in the shopping centre on Friday 24th March where she met loads of shoppers and handed out cotton Wake Up to Waste reusable bags provided by Michael Kelly of the Council.
“Newtownabbey people are very keen in reducing the use of plastic bags” says Baglady. “We can do this!”

W5 had a fantastic workshop with the author of If the World Were a Village, David Smith, on February 19th and 21st. Baglady and the Mayor of Belfast were invited to be special guests of the workshops and met lots of new friends in the scouts. Everyone enjoyed activities learning about the distribution of our worlds resources and watched David’s book in animation.
