Baglady’s asking:

Question: In how many ways is solar energy wonderful?

Solar Water Heating in Northern ireland

Solar Water Heating in Northern ireland

Answer:

1 It’s free! once you’ve paid for the panels
2 You don’t have to do anything – so long as the sun’s shining you’re catching energy whether you’re fast asleep, eating chips, washing dishes, baking bread or talking on the telephone
3 It supplies energy to the grid, so you’re contributing to everyone’s energy bank
4 It makes your neighbours wonder how much they could save on their electricity bills
5 It helps lower our consumption of fossil fuels
6 It reduces pollution

We love our solar thermal and pv systems, and reckon a couple of people have been won over after seeing them in action. Like all these things they need to be well sited to work properly, and they need not cost a fortune. We’ve blogged about it – http://www.offgridsteve.co.uk/2012/10/autumn-sunshine.html
